Kick Ass RICHARD DREYFUSS Interview

I don't usually put links to other sites interviews mainly because it's usually sanctimonious dribble about the power and genius of being an actor/musician or it's just somebody hawking their new...whatever. Sometimes though an interview comes along that's so rich I have to let everybody know how good it is. Over at IESB there's an amazing interview with Richard Dreyfuss who not only talks about new projects but also candidly talks about Hollywood and his career. Dreyfuss' honesty is refreshing and though he may be a prick he's a goddamn funny prick. Here are a couple of choice quotes:

On Returning To Film:

"I had this fantasy that, one day, I was going to take an ad out in Variety and say, "Thanks for the 40 years. Bye," and never come back. And then, as we all do, we went through divorces and life's losses and I couldn't afford to quit. I didn't have the money. I couldn't say goodbye because I had to occasionally have an income coming from the one thing I knew how to do. So, I could never take the ad out, but what I did was stop being actor-centric. I was no longer seeking work and I was no longer trying to produce films or pitch projects, and I left. I take work now, for the most part, for two reasons. One is because, if you turn it down, you're an idiot. This role is one of those roles. And, the other reason is money. So, when people asked me why I took Poseidon, which was a piece of crap, I said it was because they were willing to pay me the salary that I used to get paid."

On Playing Dick Cheney In W:

"I looked forward to playing [Dick] Cheney (in W), until I met Oliver [Stone]. Then, I looked forward to humiliating Oliver, as much as I could."

INTERVIEW WITH GREG PAK

One of the things I'm most excited about for the summer in Comic Books is the return of writer Greg Pak to The Incredible Hulk. Pak's run on Hulk that lasted through World War Hulk was some of the best comic book writing I've encountered in years. Once Jeph Loeb and his gang of hacks took over the Hulk book became one of the worst things ever. With Greg Pak returning to start another Hulk book my excitement is triple fold for what lays ahead for the green skinned Goliath. Newsarama ran an awesome interview with Pak talking about his new Hulk book plus War Machine and a bunch of other stuff. A great read.

GREG PAK RETURNS TO THE HULK!!! AWESOME INTERVIEW

Anybody who has been reading the Hulk for the last fifteen years knows that it's been incredibly awesome almost without fail. From the beginning of the storyline where Bruce Banner got Parkinson Disease all the way up through World War Hulk the title has been flawless. One of the things that made it so awesome was writer Greg Pak who gave us Planet Hulk and World War Hulk. I thought The Incredible Hulk would be just that for a long time to come.

Then Jeph Loeb stepped in and fucked it all up.

When Loeb writes anything other than Silver Age stories or with Tim Sale drawing he fails, miserably. His run on Wolverine sucked and his current run on Hulk is some of the worst writing in comic history. I haven't read a single issue (this is after being a loyal fan for fifteen or more years) since he took over.

WELL GOOD NEWS GREG PAK IS RETURNING

This amazing interview over at Newsrama (NEWSRAMA TALKS TO GREG PAK)tells the whole tale and I am a thankful bitch for it!!

KEVIN SMITH INTERVIEW MAKES YOU KINDA FEEL BAD FOR HIM

I think Kevin Smith is a hack, always have always will. His movies suck, his comics suck (though Batman: Cacophony was pretty cool)and his whole geek-as-fashion-accessory thing just irks me. Seriously man, lose the long black coat and smarmy wit, it doesn't help at all. Anyway this interview over at VULTURE even makes me feel bad for the guy. Perhaps all of these failures will get him to wake up and see how his douchery messes up everything he does.
