SUPERMAN/BATMAN APOCALYPSE TRAILER

I'm about as done as I can be with the whole DC Animated let's-rehash-shit ideal. There are so many cool ideas and titles that get cut or canceled so what? So that they can keep giving us Superman/Batman titles? I don't like this story mainly because it's Jeph Loeb and he has done far more damage than his run on The Long Halloween or Superman For All Seasons can forgive. Don't believe me? Check both his craptastic run on Wolverine and how he ruined The Hulk for proof.

In this movie Apocalypse decides to get back at Superman through the newly discovered Supergirl. From the look of the Supergirl costume when she's under the Apocalypse spell it seems his great and evil plan is Space Pimping. I have no interest in seeing this even with my great crush Summer Glau performing the voice. DC released a trailer, here it is.

Superman/Batman Apocalypse hits on September 28th.

Could This Be A Reason DC Animated Is Failing?

I figured this is better then an ad for the movie AND she plays Supergirl

On the DVD for Batman Under The Red Hood there was a ten or so minute mini-documentary on the upcoming Superman/Batman Apocalypse movie. Now I'm as big a fan of the "A" man as anybody and I'm also amped whenever Kevin Conroy works as Batman's voice but seriously, another fucking Jeph Loeb story? Seriously, I mean Christ even producer Bruce Timm looks ambivalent to this and longtime animated guru of awesome Andrea Romano is trying to sell it way too hard. Here's little documentary thing.

Other than the fact that I could watch Summer Glau do anything that whole bit of business is incredibly uninspired. First off the director looks like an extra from Beetlejuice with a Meth addiction and all she can say besides how great it is is how the artist draws the women really long? Hoo fuckin YAH does that inspire me to run out and buy this.

This could all stem from the fact that I hate Jeph Loeb because he fucked up Wolverine AND Hulk or it could be because this kind of rehash shit is what's keeping DC Animated down. They went from Batgirl Year One and Teen Titans The Judas Contract to this? Unless this comes with a Summer Glau naked pleasing herself easter egg you can pretty much count me out of this.

SMALLVILLE Season 10 Trailer. It Ain't The Thor Footage.....

Oh what you wanted TOM WELLING with his shirt open?

I didn't get to go to San Diego Comic Con which is totally FUCKING BULLSHIT fine with me because to be honest I can't afford to go I'm too much of a comic purist to want to be part of something so obviously tainted by Hollywood unless somebody pays for me to go and all of its money hungry bullshit.

That understood I did a wrap up of what I thought was important and one of those things was Smallville. Well, here's the trailer for season 10 and it has some cool surprises. It's hard to get a wicked hard on for Smallville no matter what since it's sucked to bad for two years but hey I might watch it now, especially if they do get Lex Luthor to return.

SDCC I WASN'T THERE WRAP UP #7: CHLOE IN ACTION/SUPERMAN IN SMALLVILE

For the longest time Smallville has sucked a thousand cocks laced with cyanide. Ever since the big "Doomsday" is coming let down where the creature that killed Superman turned out to be a hot, troubled ambulance driver that turned into a the Toxic Avenger mixed with a porcupine it's been downhill. The only thing worth a damn on that show was the character of Chloe Sullivan played by the nerd-boy-perfect-girlfriend Allison Mack. Then it was announced Allison would be jumping from the Smallville ship because, well probably because she knew the show sucked donkey nuts at this point. When that came out all of us who loved Alison and Chloe were super bummed.

Fear not!! As it turns out Chloe will be making her comic book appearance in Action Comics #838 and that kicks ass. Hopefully she'll be a permanent part of the DC Universe but even a brief encounter with the character is better than nothing. Here's the cover of Action Comics #893.

With Chloe gone and Smallville circling the drain the producers have pulled out all the stops for the tenth and final season by actually putting Superman in the show about Superman. Apparently a trailer for season ten showed not just the costume but also Clark finally being referred to as Superman. This definitely probably won't save the show but it will drag my stupid ass back for season 10.

You Spin Me Roun SUPERMAN Round Round.....

Okay so let's see what we do have that's true. After several failed attempts put Richard Donner's brilliant original Superman the Hollywood folks are gearing up to try and re-launch what could be tentpole franchise if they don't fuck it up. David Goyer, who for my money can't write shit (he only assisted the two Batman movies) is penning the script based on the John Byrne era of Superman. Christopher Nolan has been hired to oversee/produce the whole thing.

Okay, that's what is true

From there the whole fucking thing becomes a spinning crap shoot that makes me nauseous. First Christopher Nolan's brother Jonah (who co-wrote the Batman scripts) was going to direct but that got pish poshed away. This week it was told that Chris Colombus was going to bring his Home Aloneness to Superman and he would be directing.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!!

Now it seems that Jonah Nolan will direct, he always was going to direct and that's why Christopher Nolan got involved. Its also been said that a few TV folks have been looked at to play Superman. True Blood star Ryan Kwanten and Friday Night Lights pretty boy Scott Porter have been mentioned as well as Chuck star Zachary Levi.

Clearly none of these guys are right for the role and the idea of casting an unknown is still the way to go. See I think Brandon Routh was a great choice and would have been awesome if Brian Singer hadn't made him play the comic legend as the blueprint for Singer's dream man instead of how the hero really was. They won't bring Routh back but these TV guys ain't the move either.

You got one last try folks, if this Superman sucks people will be done for a very long time.

SUPERMAN/BATMAN APOCALYPSE Is Coming

So with DC Animated kind of in the rough right now thanks to people not buying their movies, I guess they've decided to go with the few that did sell. On the heels, well kind of, of Batman Under The Hood (Due out July 27th) comes Superman/Batman Apocalypse (September 28th). The last Superman/Batman movie Public Enemies was pretty awesome and apparently sold really well so BAM the DC folks are at it again. Here's the skinny on the plot:

After a spaceship splashes down in Gotham City Harbor, Batman and Superman encounter a mysterious Kryptonian with powers as great as those of the Man of Steel. The Kryptonian is soon revealed to be Kara, cousin of Superman, who takes her under his wing to educate her about the ways of Earth. However, the villainous Darkseid has other plans. Seeing an opportunity to finally defeat Superman, Darkseid abducts and gains control of Kara, utilizing the powerful Kryptonian to do his bidding. It's up to Batman and Superman to save Kara, but they'll have to take the fight to Darkseid within his hostile world - where unknown, deadly threats lurk around every corner, including a brainwashed Kryptonian able to match Superman blow-for-blow.

The best part is that Kevin Conroy will be performing Batman's voice and Tim Daly will handle Superman. Summer Glau (Chronicles of Sarah Conner) is voicing Supergirl but since I don't care about her saying anything besides "Again Iann? My poor body is so sore but you are soooo good that I can't say no" that doesn't matter much to me.

COMIC BOOK MOVIE UPDATE

So the Hollywood cash machine is rolling along with the plans to turn as many comic properties into films as they can. First up it looks like James McAvoy from Wanted has been chosen to play a young Professor X in X Men: First Class, a film that traces the earliest days of the X-Men. For those unaware here's a shot of McAvoy.

I have no inherent problem with this guy though I did think Wanted was a giant turd trying to pass as an action movie. Can he play Professor X? Perhaps, though I doubt he'll erase the idea of Patrick Stewart as Professor X much the same way nobody has shaken the image of Christopher Reeve as Superman. While I'm not a huge X-Men fan I think this is a mistake, that doing a fourth film to make up for the third X-Men movie is a better play. I also think getting Matthew Vaughn to direct is a mistake but that's mainly because I hated Kick Ass.

In other superhero movie news, with Batman 3 looking for a summer 2012 release it appears now that the next Superman reboot will be hitting theaters for the 2012 holiday season. With Avengers hitting that year it might be a DC/Marvel throwdown. It appears that a script is finished for The Flash movie and a green light is very near for that movie. Still in development are Wonder Woman and Aquaman though they're both closer to green lights than they have been.

As for Green Lantern, apparently two years after the movie comes out an animated series will launch. Why two years? Beats me

The Sequel Train Is Full Steam Ahead

So the Hollywood Cunt Slime are readying their sequel train to steamroll through our lives bringing (mostly) shitty returns to movies that weren't that good to begin with but made money. See Hollywood has really found itself the g-spot of money making, in other words if the movie watching world was a chick they've figured out where to lick so the bitch throws money at them. The licking here is that Hollywood knows people want to go to the movies, they love going to movies and if there aren't good films out they will take what they can get. Using that game plan the Hollywood Ass Whores continue to churn out shit, people keep going because they have no choice and BAM the money rolls in and the Hollywood Ass Whores point their grubby, nubbed, claws and say "It made money, it must be good" and the cycle begins again. Here are some sequel updates for those who care.

SUPERMAN

In what will probably be the last shot Hollywood has to get Superman right this new Chris Nolan shepherded, David Goyer helmed Superman is looking at a Christmas 2012 release. My fear with this is that Nolan & Goyer will make Superman too dark and take away the inherent optimism of the character. That being said they couldn't fuck up the movie any worse than Superman Returns or the other sequels to the brilliant Richard Donner film and I respect both men so I'm trying to be hopeful.

BATMAN 3

Might be filmed in Imax, is probably two years away and that is all anybody can say so far. I'm hoping that since Nolan says he's figured out how to wrap up his story with the third film they won't try to recast the Joker. For me I'd love to see a Crispin Glover Riddler or a Phillip Seymour Hoffman Penguin but I'd especially like it if Nolan worked in the Black Mask, one of the most underrated villains ever. For jerk off material give me an Evan Rachel Wood Catwoman.

FURY ROAD

As if this return to Mad Max wasn't already going to be a large steaming pile of maggot shit now it comes down that while the film is now forced into this bizarre 3D feeding frenzy it won't even be shot in 3D. Instead the producers will add "3D" effects in post production much the same way they did for Clash Of The Titans even though everybody said how awful that looked. It's insane, the 3D thing hasn't reached a fever pitch yet and already the Hollywood Cunts are cutting corners.

DISTRICT 9

According to Sharlto Copley this will happen in two years and could be a prequel. Hopefully this never happens ever. District 9 was the biggest batch of snake oil I've ever seen the world suck down. The film was a masochistic nonsensical badly written shit storm that could not figure out what it wanted to be and went from interesting to Michael Bay action-lame in less than an hour. The fact that people ate it up and started claiming how brilliant it was just proves people are stupid sheep.

ANCHORMAN 2

Apparently all the folks who became big movie stars post Anchorman have agreed to pay cuts if the movie is greenlit. Personally I don't care at all about this. Anchorman was cute but doesn't need a sequel, however if there is one then good for them, it doesn't offend me or make me happy. UPDATED: Apparently the movie studio passed on the project. Perhaps because Will Ferrell has been box office poison as of late.

CLASH OF THE TITANS 2

Yeah just in case you'd finished wiping the dried Hollywood Devil Jizz off your face, the throbbing warted cock of the Hollywood Devil is hard again and heading towards your mouth with an unnecessary sequel to a shitty movie. As Bill Hicks said: Sucking Satan's Pecker.

I stole this graphic from Screen Rant....so fucking sue me.

LEGAL BATTLE FORCES NEW SUPERMAN

What do you mean I'm boring?

If you're not hip to the current issues between Warner Brothers and the estate of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel (a beef you can read about HERE)then you probably don't know that if WB doesn't spew out a Superman movie by 2011 they lose all rights to the character. With that in mind the long delayed return to Superman has been fast tracked overnight.

According to sources nobody was happy with Superman Returns (which I understand though I didn't think it was awful) so this film will be a complete re-boot. The studio sees Superman Returns as a bookend to the Richard Donner movies so they won't be asking Brandon Routh back to reprise his role as the Man Of Steel and between the fallout from the project and Bryan Singer begging for his X-Men job back he won't be returning either.

From what I understand the Wachowski Brothers (or brother & sister) are trying to pitch an idea with the director of their new film Ninja Assassin (check trailer below) to helm. As usual Hollywood is going about this the wrong way because that's all they know how to fucking do.

Superman Returns was chock full of ego and mistakes. The budget was too big, the casting (for everybody except Superman I felt) was way off and the fact that it was a drawn out melodrama all served to hurt it. However it is still the last thing people remember and trying to "reboot it" won't wipe that idea from people's minds. If anything Hollywood is going to make it more difficult by trying to round people up to give yet another actor a chance as Superman.

As for the Wachowski's, well, my issue there is that they love to fuck things up and masquerade it as "pushing the envelope" or "thinking outside the box". Want proof, watch the last Matrix movie or Speed Racer. I'm afraid with the essence of Superman intact leading to a disappointing movie with Superman Returns the Wachowski's will be able to just go out. We might be faced again with the latex Superman suit with an "S" that becomes two knives or other things equally as lame.

Keep Routh as Superman and get him some acting lessons to be able to play angry and fire everybody else (to be honest nobody remembers them anyway) then have somebody write in a more action oriented villain e.g. Metallo, Brainiac, Doomsday, Bizarro, etc. If you make a decent action and story film ala The Dark Knight and let Routh continue as Superman you'd have a sure fire slamdunk.

Reboots aren't the answer to everything.

WOW WHY NOT JUST SELL HIM WITH THE WHEELCHAIR

So above is the Mattel Toys 12 inch Christopher Reeve Superman figure. I guess in this version ol' Supey has the gout? Perhaps it's supposed to be him after not eating due to the financial returns of Superman IV.

Whatever it is it's insulting to the man who will always be the one that did the best job bringing Superman to life. Seriously Mattel FUCK OFF and the General Zod is worse.

I hate everything
